The Sweet Life Invite (Interactive & Print)

The Sweet Life $350,000 Slot Tournament Invite was the first project given to RDGLV, the ad agency in Las Vegas, which I had worked at. The idea was to illustrate a sweet Italian life offered by MGM Grand.

When I first heard about the words, "sweet", "Italian", and "life", those romantic, lively, historical, and urban sceneries of Venice, Rome, and Florence popped up in my mind. Working as the lead designer for this project, how should I best present "The Sweet Life" idea?

Based on bits and pieces of thoughts, I asked myself, ""What are the sweetest moments in our lives? Hanging out with a bunch of closed friends, sitting outside of a coffee shop in a cozy, sunny, and laid-back summer afternoon in Europe, watching people passing by and sipping a 85°C espresso? Else, chilling out and shopping at all of the world-famous brand shops? Else, holding our special one's hands in ours, strolling along the riverside of Venice, making a commitment, and portraying the future of a happy family? But people could find their sweetest moments in life at MGM Grand now."

To perfectly illustrate this idea, I built a modern Italian city with Illustrator by combining sceneries of Venice and Rome and "borrowing" one of the symbols of Italy, Torre pendente di Pisa. Next, I laid out the story board in Fireworks and created the interactive scenes of characters and the environments in Flash. The idea was to give audiences a chance to experience a preview of the sweet Italian life virtually, while they enjoyed the texture and design of the printed invitations.
